In honor of Black History Month, James Beatty, Director of the Great Plains Black History Museum, spoke at Peru State College on Thursday, Feb. 14, a wonderful Valentine's Gift for everyone who attended this uplifting presentation about the museum and the often painful history of African Americans in America.
The Great Plains Black History Museum, as Beatty noted, has remained closed since 2004, owing to poor leadership and lack of funds. But he and the museum board work to raise funds to build a new museum
James Beatty, a 1970 graduate of Doane College, was the first 
African American to earn a degree in Math from that college--he also ran track and competed against Peru State College. He currently serves as President of NCS International based in Omaha, Nebraska.
